Magnetic flux converter
Convert flux between webers and maxwells, the total magnetism passing through a loop rather than its strength at a point.
That's about the same as a speaker gap. Collapsing through a 100-turn coil in 10 ms, that would make about 10 V.
What it means
How much flux is that?
Flux is field strength multiplied by area. One tesla through one square meter is one weber.

Three things worth knowing
-
Changing flux makes voltage
Volts = turns × the rate the flux changes. Spin a magnet near a coil and the faster you spin it, the more voltage you get.
-
Weber and the maxwell
The CGS unit was the maxwell, a hundred-millionth of a weber. It survives on older magnet datasheets and in laboratory habit.
-
Flux is not field strength
Tesla measures how concentrated the field is; weber measures how much of it passes through an area. A weak field over a huge loop can carry plenty of flux.

Background
About magnetic flux
Flux counts the total magnetism threading a surface, in webers. Faraday’s law says a changing flux makes a voltage, which is the entire basis of generators, transformers and induction charging.
