Flow rate converter
Convert between liters per second and minute, cubic meters per hour, gallons per minute and cubic feet per minute, for pumps, taps and ventilation.
That's 1.11× as much flow as a shower, while a garden hose is 1.8× faster. At that rate a 150-liter bathtub fills in about 15 minutes.
What it means
How much flow is that?
Reference flows are typical values. A mains tap varies a lot with pressure and plumbing.

Three things worth knowing
-
GPM to liters: multiply by four
1 US gallon per minute is 3.79 L/min, so multiplying by 4 is close enough for sizing a pump. A good shower runs at 9 L/min, about 2.4 GPM.
-
Why CFM rules ventilation
Air conditioning grew up in the US, so fans and ducts are still sized in cubic feet per minute. 1 CFM is 1.7 m³/h.
-
Flow is not pressure
A narrow pipe at high pressure can deliver less water than a wide one at low pressure. Pumps are specified by both, and only together do they mean anything.

Background
About flow rate units
Flow rate is volume per unit of time. Plumbers work in liters per minute or gallons per minute, ventilation engineers in cubic feet per minute, and water utilities in cubic meters per hour.
Be careful with gallons: a US gallon per minute is 3.79 L/min, an imperial one 4.55 L/min.
