Torque to power converter
Convert engine torque into power. Pick the engine speed first: the same torque at twice the revs is twice the power.
That's 5.9× as powerful as a scooter, while a small hatchback is 1.8× more. That is about 63.19 horsepower.
What it means
How much power is that?
Power is torque times angular speed, so a torque figure alone says nothing about power. Quoted peak torque and peak power almost never occur at the same revs.

Three things worth knowing
-
kW = Nm × rpm ÷ 9549
In US units, hp = lb·ft × rpm ÷ 5252 — which is why torque and power curves always cross at 5,252 rpm on an American dyno chart.
-
Watt’s horses
James Watt measured a mill horse turning a wheel and defined the horsepower to sell steam engines against something buyers already understood. It is 745.7 watts.
-
Metric and imperial horsepower differ
PS is 735.5 W and hp is 745.7 W, so a "300 hp" car and a "300 PS" car differ by about 4 hp. Manufacturers quote whichever suits the market.

About torque and power
Torque is the twist; power is how fast that twist does work. They are tied together by the revs: kW = Nm × rpm ÷ 9549.
That is why a diesel with huge torque at 2,000 rpm can make less power than a small engine spinning to 8,000 — and why gearing lets either one do the same job.
